We seem to have annual threads started by posters on here relating to the Rays, Bucs, Lightning, and I think I've even seen USF sports, but I haven't seen the Rowdies mentioned. I went to my first game last June-really fun atmosphere. Went again to see MLS teams (I believe Philadelphia vs. Miami) play. Anyways, I thought you guys might find this interesting, and perhaps this thread could be a launching and landing point for future Rowdies discussion too.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...ccer-rankings/

What it shows is all 629 teams ranked in an infographic according to how they've played in certain matches against certain levels of competition and how that means they will fare in upcoming matches. I've always thought that in the near term, though perhaps not in the aggregate, soccer was a game of slimmer margins and differentiation than American sports are. This graphic kinda brings to the light the parity between different pro soccer leagues in the world (with of course the Big 5 European leagues dominating), but a vast gap in quality control with the MLS. The highest-ranked MLS side is 136th out of 629 (LAFC), as opposed to the lowest rated side which is Cincinnati is down at 516. The Tampa Bay Rowides meanwhile, rank ahead of 3 MLS teams competitively, at 469. Any soccer fans-is there any actual validity at all to that? It seems hard to fathom, given that for instance the Rowdies avg. salary is 40K and Vancouver at 2nd lowest in MLS averages 275K... but it is interesting to ponder, even for me as not that huge of a soccer fan.

I lived in the Tampa Bay Area (Largo) the years when The Rowdies came to Tampa to play at the Old Sombrero, we were the Original Fannies way back then and ~Soccer was a Kick in the Grass~ and the NASL brought Pele out of retirement to the Cosmos.

Great Days, way back then. I have been also lately to the St Pete Stadium where they call home right now by the Water Downtown.

If you are by chance and old Fan from the days in Tampa, Oscar Fabianni, their top scorer became really good friends with us from his day of arrival from Chile.

He went back to Chile and eventually got into Politics there, we have no seen him in a while but we touch bases once in a blue moon to this day.
