We just moved here in January. My husband loves to fish while my daughter and I love to lay on the beach. We have gone to Fort DeSoto and like it, but where else are their fishing piers with public beaches right there (that are not paying piers). Thanks!

Look for the Oldsmar Mobbly Bayou recreation site, at the end of Shore Drive. You can swim there and play in the sun, while just next to it , he can fish.
PM me if you want additional directions.

I saw an Oldsmar site that lists it as one of the parks and it does say fishing but it doesn't say swimming. Is this a lake or does it empty into the Bay? In other words, alligators?????

It is Tampa Bay.. You might want to check out Ballast Point in S. Tampa. There is a fishing pier and a nice playground, but not really a beach area

Picnic Island in South Tampa, its the bay beaches, but a very nice park, you would never think since it is a little industrial just before you enter the park, but very peaceful, large beach area and fishing pier.
