I'm about to put in an offer on a house in Palm River-Claire Mel. Any insights? Crime?

Not considered a good area. Crime isn’t the best, household income is also low. I thought about purchasing there until I did some research. It wasn’t for me.

Less than desirable, and I’m being kind. Think Florida 50 years ago, low socioeconomics.

There is some new construction at the far southern portion with houses in the $300-400 range according to Zillow. I would think that would be the safest portion where the new construction is occurring.

There are some houses in the $200 range with a few going for over $500, but the area is not very desirable. Maybe it will improve over the next 10-20 years.

I lived there when bill fairy bombed the winn dixie i had my infant with me when i was headed home and thought to stop and buy something . The place was on fire . But according to a child hood friend who still lives there it has not changed since we were kids and it was a low rent district then and you could buy a house for like 25 thousand back then . The crime is much worse there now , you cant leave anything outside or it will be gone within an hour . So I hope this answers your question . My friend no longer lives there but she visits her parents who are still there and refuse to leave the house is paid for . She now lives in panther trace in riverview which is a place you might want to check out riverview I mean .

It is the west Pasco of east Tampa. Never been nice even in the 1960's.

Good comparison, hadn't thought about that... looks post-apocalyptic, too, just like Holiday.

"The median income for a household in the community was $35,380, and the median income for a family was $38,035. Males had a median income of $27,796 versus $22,973 for females. The per capita income for the community was $14,593."

Oof...

It's not for me, but I'm sure it appeals to some -- you wouldn't be closing on a house there otherwise...
