In retrospect, I should have visited beforehand. Tampa may have been a better fit, since it is a larger city and probably younger as well
Yes, as I posted previously, St. Pete has always been a retirement city with many seniors. Tampa is much younger, and has way more urban vibe, but of course not like Miami or anything. Average age in Tampa is 35. Always a good idea to visit a place before you move. You never know how you will feel about a place just by some comments on a message board. But at least you are renting and can move when your lease is up.

Yea I messed up big time. I am considering just paying the penalty to break the lease and going to tampa.

I wonder if it's particularly possible to do things in tampa while living in saint pete. I'm sure it is, but not involving alchol unless willing to pay for ubers or something.

Check out South Howard, maybe that’s more your scene.

Be sure to check out various areas of Tampa before you move in haste. You want to be reasonably sure it's a good fit. Lots of developing areas in and around downtown, Ybor, South Howard, etc.

I think you need to give St. pete more of a chance.

you messed up bigtime as a 25 year old moving to downtown St. Pete? That just doesn't make sense at all. St. Pete is better than Tampa, and without the traffic. Plus access to the best beaches in the country. I would HATE living in Tampa away from the water and with all the crazy traffic.

To me, St. Pete is one of the best hidden gems in this entire country.

IDK how "hidden" it is anymore, girl.

You are correct - St. Pete has been "discovered," and the soaring prices there reflect that. The "hidden gem" boat sailed some time ago.
