His wife has tried to cover his ass with her testimony that she initially felt afraid and then was pissed off—which the prosecutor apparently just skipped over in his designed examination—
I imagine POed is exactly how her husband felt

There WAS lot more doubt in that case—plenty of people saw what Reeves did
The question about Reeves is motivation/culpability—there is no doubt that HE shot Oulsen—
He is not trying to claim his wife grabbed the gun and did it instead

This sounds to me like when people were saying that Kyle Rittenhouse took a rifle across state lines to shoot protesters in Kenosha. It wasn't true (and was irrelevant even if it had been) but it took hold across the uninformed plains of the internet and was repeated often enough that it became a fact to a lot of people.

Understand that too. Defense is trying to make jury wonder if he had any other option than use a gun.
So far defense is not doing a great job, and it's pretty clear killer could remove himself from that annoyed to him situation instead of using the gun.
However, it doesn't take much to make jury doubt. I am still optimistic though

This did not happen. His movements are documented by the many cameras in the place. He left the auditorium to go speak to the manager. Then he returned and the shooting took place. He did not go out to his car to retrieve the weapon.

This is a rumor being spread by the uninformed.

Thanks for the correction

Why didn’t the manager respond?
Has he testified in trial?

Can't answer those, as I have been unable to follow the trial as closely as I would have liked since I'm on-call 24/7 and working/sleeping various crazy hours.

It just shocks me that after eight years, this rumor still persists. If it were true, it would be one of the biggest facts of the story being blasted all over the place by every media organization covering the story instead of a rumor floating around in random circles. Plus, it would be front and center in the prosecution. The state attorney would have been hammering on that point relentlessly from day one, through all of the previous hearings, etc.
