It was my mother's home who recently passed away. Adjacent property has been vacant for over 10 years. New neighbors have moved there, are living in a motorhome supposedly while fixing up the double wide, which I'm fine with. They probably picked that spot as it's under the shade of a tree near the fence. I was going to warn them that tree could come down during hurricane season as it's not a strong tree--carrotwood--and two others along the fence have come down. But now they've run a drain line from their RV discharging into--well, my property now. I don't want to get off to a bad start with these people, they don't speak English. I had used Google Translate to print out a note in Spanish to let them know that their RV isn't safe where it's at under that tree; but now that they've done this I don't know how to proceed. We all have at least 1/2 acre lots, they have plenty of room to drain on their own property. I'm thinking it's gray water as I was under the impression they were connected to the septic but who knows--don't know why they would've done this. But regardless it's not an acceptable situation. The guy that mows the lawn told them they couldn't do that but a couple of days ago when I was over there saw the drain line underground where the dirt's disturbed so it's still there. I'm not always on the property but plan on spending time there every month doing repairs and stuff. Don't know how to nicely go about resolving this issue. Any suggestions?

Call your county about it. Look for 'illegal discharges' or ' environmental services' or such. Let the officials handle it.

yep, call Code Enforcement, don't ever get involved personally. People are crazy, and some foreigners and transplants are worse and sometimes dangerous characters.

That's what I would do... they might have just tossed it out and didn't realize it was on the adjacent lot.

Except it's still an environmental issue. No matter whose lot is it, it shouldn't be dumped on the ground.

It is buried but can see where it goes from the disturbed soil and is slightly raised. Our lawn guy saw when they first did it and told them they couldn't but it's still there.

Oh hell naw. I'd be all over that. It could be human waste or whatever nasty they put down the drain.

I would work it from a code enforcement angle then as someone already suggested. If CE thinks there's an environmental risk I'm sure someone will be out there in short order.
