Is ybor city a good place to live, what about culture and lifestyle safety etc. Is it a good place for families. is it a flood zone area. Is it easy to find work in Tampa? I thought about the Orlando area but the pay sucks. With gas prices and cost of living rising, we have to reconsider.

There's a realtor trying to promote ybor as being the most hip and cool places to live in Tampa. he said the house prices there are going to go up in value. Whats going on. does anyone know about this?

YBOR is a party place full of bars and can be quite scary at night time. Lots of homeless and shady stuff goes on especially after dark. The realor is probably hurting for sales and willing to say anything to make it sound pleasant. I would not raise my kids around there.

I wouldn't call Ybor a family area either. There are some fairly new condos and they may be OK but definitely not for a family.

There are too many other areas that are more family oriented. Check out Carrollwood, S. Tampa, Citrus Park and Westchase area. New Tampa and Wesley Chapel are family areas but are a pretty long drive everyday depending on where you work.

Ybor City living is for the Urban Pioneers, single or coupled professionals that like to live in an urban, historic setting, within walking to the areas largest entertainment areas with restaurants, bars, nightclubs, theaters, art galleries, festivals, etc. It is a hip and cool place for some....Just to the North and East of Ybor City are some not so safe areas of Tampa.

I personally wouldn't recommend the area for families to reside(visit yes-before midnight, not reside though).

IMO, Ybor is a good place to visit during the daylight. There are some really good restaurants. I've never felt threatened, but I'm always aware of my surroundings.

Good place to visit during the day. No longer the hip hangout it was in the mid/late 90s for nightlife. Back to its nefarious 70s/80s vibe.
