I was just wondering, because Tampa pretty much has all year warm weather, are there mosquitoes flying around throughout the year? Being from Nebraska, we only really have them biting from June 'til September.

It really depends on how wet it is. If it's hot and wet, we have a lot of mosquitoes. If there is a lot of standing water, there are a lot of mosquitoes. I notice them more at dusk in the summer and all the way through Halloween.

It depends where you live in the Tampa area. I live south of Riverview, which is south of the city and their not a problem here any time of the year. We don't have the ponds and lakes that other areas do.

i live near busch gardens, and some evenings, there are tons. other times, not that many, but invest in some OFF and spray it on if you will be outside more than 20 mins. that should keep most of em away.

i know we had a cookout memorial day weekend, im still itching from some of those bites...

From my personal experience, they are around the entire year.

Very annoying.

looks like finding an area relatively free from standing water might be more trouble free. i'll have to check google maps before buying any home to look out for lakes and Busch gardens

I'll have to say, it's not just the lakes and rivers, it is any water, if you water your grass, wash your car and forget to empty the wash bucket, any water sitting around is a haven for breeding, hence you will get bites from insects.
