Based on what? I’d put Singapore ahead of both.

Miami is among a handful of world-renowned banking centers and an iconic fashion/style trendsetter.
Eh…
It has a long way to go.

How so given the international reputation already suggests it?

People here mix apples and orange..."most desirable city" does not necessarily means "world class city"...after clarifying that, I would definitely put Miami in the world class city category.

Depends how we define “world class.”

I think it needs MAJOR improvements in terms of general infrastructure. Outside of Downtown/Brickell (which is still very small), too much car-centric suburbia overrun with stroads and whatnot.
I could see some of this being remedied if Metrorail adds several E-W lines.

Miami is ranked as a Beta+ city which I think seems like a fair comparison if looking at the others on the list.

Beta cities are ones with a moderate economic connection with the world economy.

Washington DC
Dallas
Bogota
Miami
Rome
Hamburg
Houston
Berlin
Chengdu
Düsseldorf
Tel Aviv
Barcelona
Budapest
Doha
Lima
Copenhagen
Atlanta
Bucharest
Vancouver
Brisbane
Cairo
Beirut
Auckland

If Vancouver and Atlanta are considered "world class," then I agree with that assessment.

Again, this does not define a "world class city", the connection to the global economy.

That list is all over the place.....Vancouver and Auckland in the same category as Rome?? Please.

Rome is a world class city., probably one of the most important ones where Auckland is definitely not.
