We are planning a move from Orlando to the St. Pete area. Yippee! My husband's criteria in looking for a new home is that he desperately wants to be on the intercoastal so he can have his boat out in the backyard. My #1 criteria for my kids are great schools & good neighborhoods as we have an 8 & 2 yr. old.

I have been researching some school websites & have narrowed down the barrier islands from Redington Shores to Madeira Beach. I love that those areas not only offer intercoastal living along with short walks to the beach but also offer "A" schools for all grades K-12.

I'm afraid that since we don't know the St. Pete area that we might be missing some other fabulous areas.

We could end up renting so that would buy us some time to be able to explore St. Pete & feel things out for ourselves. Ultimately I'd like to buy & right now is a great time to buy.

Can anyone offer some advice? I'm trying to stay under $550k if at all possible....which I've seen several homes available. Any advice on either buying or renting is greatly appreciated!!!

The poster is asking about St. Pete not Idaho. You are advertising in every post you make. If you want to advertise go to the classifieds.

Nope. I have desire to leave FL. We enjoy the warm weather too much. Thanks though.

If St. Pete is the area you like I would buy a house now, since it is such a good time for buyers. Just get a good RE broker to show you all that's available and you will get a good deal. If you have additional questions after you see something you like you can always ask here and plenty of the posters here will tell you their opinions.
Good luck in your house hunting!!
