I know ten years ago it was considered the death metal capital of the world, but how is it now? Is the underground scene still very big? I will be relocating to Tampa in mid July and just wanted to see what to expect before I make it there. Also with craigslist and other online apartment websites I can't seem to pick a good apartment. Could anyone recommend me a good area for a 1 bedroom/studio apartment for ~$600?

The metal scene is not like it was back in the late 80's and 90's(ahhh, Rockit Club, Killian's - where are they now?)...pick up or go on line to creativeloafing.com for all the music scene information..The Orpheum and Crowbar in Ybor sometimes have metal and Brass Mug in North Tampa always has a great metal scene. There are a few bars along Central Ave in St. Pete that also have a good metal scene most nights.

What ever happened to the good old days of mosh pits and biting off bat heads.

Metal has taken a Dive in Orlando too.
