Starbucks is closing in University Mall. This was IMO forseen since Steve and Berry's is bancrupt and already some empty spots are in this mall after JC Penney moved to Wesley Chapel. I guess Dillards is moving out of this mall and opening in Wesley Chapel. I'm not sure about that but it looks that way.

The Wesley Chapel is going to look better and better and this is good for the jobs and the housing market over here. 2 Hospitals are going to be build and 3Malls.

They could probably close 50 of them here in Portland and it would hardly make a dent in the amount we have here. They are everywhere and in between here. I think they are closing some 600 of their stores.

Yes, the encroaching 'hood is driving out business and changing the demographics. When I lived in New Tampa, I went to the University Mall for a while. But by 2010, it was getting more and more dangerous and the people there more sketchy.

Very sad. Same familiar pattern. Thugs move in, opportunity moves out.

Happened in Riverview and Southpointe areas, very run down now. The poverty circle is expanding.

Glad to hear Starbucks is closing a store; only 20,000 more to go.

Find a locally owned coffee shop, or just a run-of-the-mill early morning deli or bake shop that serves coffee. Think and buy LOCAL. Makes for a better world.

I'm honestly amazed there are any stores left at University. One of the last times I went there, there was a bum inside the mall begging for money. Add to that the three stores or so selling a bedazzled charm of a famous cartoon character (I believe it was Stewie from Family Guy). That mall has needed to close for some time now.

Big believer in this!!! Whether it's a coffee shop, a local farmer, or a restaurant that sources from local suppliers, they need our support!
