Hi all,

I am a student nurse from cambridge, England and am hoping to spend three weeks in texas if i can get a placement out there, at the moment waiting for some reply's. During my visit out their i was hoping to do a bit of sight seeing, when not working. My "mum's" decidied she wants to come with me and as it's her 50th couldn't really refuse, any how, she would like to visit some working cattle ranches and indian reservations places can any one give me any ideas. Have looked on internet, however, just keeps coming up with "dude and guest ranches". I love horse riding any suggestions for that would be great too.

The best place to visit in Texas is Austin, TX. It is in hill country. Extremely beautiful mountain. Northern California like. Austin also has big lake called Lake Travis. Also, there are a lot of live entertainment there. Very fun town.

Dallas is kind of boring since it is mostly business city, by comparsion. I lived in Dallas for four years. The only place I recommend is shopping place like Gallery in Addison.

Just want to add something. If you look for ranch and such, make sure to go visit Fort Worth. I never see any cattle or horse in Dallas. Even the tv show Dallas was filmed in Fort Worth, the twin city of Dallas.
