I've read half the posts and surfed greatschools.net, now I'm just soooo confused (sometimes too much information is a bad thing!) ...

Here's what we need: family friendly neighborhood with great high school, within @ 30 minute drive of airport and work (International Mall area); looking to rent large house with pool (can go up to 4k/mos). Important: want a neighborhood with a diverse population and real community feeling (i.e. where folks actually know their neighbors and there's stuff do in the area).

I know that's a lot to ask and there are lots of options, but what would your top 2-3 recommendations be? Thanks in advance!

I haven't lived in Tampa for awhile, but I recommend one of the nice South Tampa neighborhoods like Palma Ceia, Beach Park, Culbreath and some others. Plant High School is one of the best high schools around. This area also should put you in easy commute of your work, and is really the nicest in Tampa. I'm sure "Tampaguy" from this forum can give you more specifics.

Good luck!

Thanks Gypsychic! I just stumbled upon info about Palma Ceia yesterday in another thread and it does look as though it might fit the bill ... I'll check out the other places you mentioned too.

Other suggestions .. anyone? anyone?

You might want to check out some of the neighborhoods in Riverview.

There are several great neighborhoods to live in. I guess it all depends on the location of your job.

Palma Ceia and South Tampa are awesome. Beautiful homes, great schools, great shopping = VERY EXPENSIVE and VERY high taxes.

Might be worthwhile taking a look at Westchase, carrollwood and nearby communities.

Thank you all! South Tampa sounds great, although I'm not sure we're up for the taxes (although after NY how bad could it be??) ..Will definitely check out Riverview and Westchase areas too. Planning a quick visit in the next couple of weeks to check the area out so will let you know how it turns out ...

Please let me know if there's something I want to be sure not to miss.

Sounds like you would like the neighborhoods in south tampa area. The schools there are the best. Westchase is a suburb with los of diff gated communities. THe schools there are crowded.

Your not going to get to the airport or the Intn. mall in 30 minutes from Riverview, even taking the Selman.
