Hello, this is my first post here and I figured you all might be able to help me with my.....dream, lol.

In 2006, I worked in downtown Tampa in the Suntrust building. I LOVED working in downtown. The atmosphere, the setting, the feeling of working in a skyscraper.....I loved it. I was hoping to work at the company (CP Ships) I was with for life. Unfortunately, they got bought out 6 months after I got there, so I was layed off.

Ever since then, I've tried so hard to get an administrative/clerical job in downtown Tampa again (anywhere in downtown would be fine for me), but have not been successful. The jobs I have gotten since then have varied (I've been using the temp agency Adecco since then). Some have been awful. Others have been good. The one I'm at now is actually pretty good. But none of them have been able to give me the same great feeling I had when working downtown.

I would do anything to work in downtown Tampa again. I know this might sound silly, but it is my dream to work in downtown Tampa again in an administrative/clerical job. I guess it could be said I'm even a bit obsessed. My friends think I'm crazy (), but they don't understand the feeling of emptiness I've had ever since my job ended in downtown Tampa, lol.

So my question is, can any one of my fellow Tampa neighbors here in this forum help me in some way to get an administrative/clerical job in downtown Tampa? Like maybe one of you might know a great temp agency that offers a lot of downtown Tampa jobs. Or maybe some of you might work in downtown Tampa and are aware of job postings for your company. Or maybe you might be able to give me some advice to point me in the right direction. Anything will help, and is appreciated.

Thank you.

Well, unfortunately, it's not the best time to be looking for a job here - we are in a recession and many jobs have been cut or frozen and employees laid off.

That said, have you checked to see if there are any county positions? Their building is the pretty pink glass building on Kennedy. And there is a large insurance office in the Suntrust building (I think it's AIG) maybe you could check there?

Good luck to you!

Hmmmm, thanks for the reply! Where could I find out what county positions are available in that pink building? Which website do you think it would be on? Thanks!

You might want to consider some of the hotels or hospitality industry downtown...or the convention center. I have only been downtown Tampa twice in the past year, and while it seemed nice, I guess I've grown too suburban over the years.

Good luck in your search!

I wish you great luck! It's a tough economy right now everywhere, but....where there's a will, there's a way, right? :=) Oh, and there are a lot of healthcare facilities in downtown...so, look into those as well...they are always in need if assistants.
