Sunnydee, hold onto your dreams! You may be very happy in Florida, who knows? Especially if you don't need a job or money. I didn't mean to sound so negative, I happen to love Florida as I was born and raised there, born in Tampa. I know there are many beautiful places in Florida and I love to visit. But living there is very different from visiting. I found that it was very difficult to live in Florida and make friends, and I am a very friendly person. The economy is bad all over the United States and even worse in Florida. I wouldn't go down there if I needed a job. I moved there in 2004 and lived in Tampa for about a year so I know what it's like to live there. I like St. Pete.

What makes you think it will take ten years. We're almost there.

I will agree housing prices are more expensive than many parts of the county as are real estate taxes and HOI. However, there are many things that cost the same as everywhere else. You may not pay as much for a house or HOI in certain states, but you do have to pay state income tax. Only you can decide if Tampa Bay meets your needs.

I have to agree with SunnyDee, FL is not for everyone, Thank goodness it would be really crowded if it were.

It is all in what makes you happy. I love the beach, sailing and going to the art shows in Tampa. TPAC has wonderful Broadway shows and other venues. Of course, there are bad things too, I just chose not to focus on them.

First time in 2 years: Tampa home prices don't fall

A surprise in Tuesday's release of the S&P/Case Shiller home price index: Tampa home prices remained flat from June to July, the first time the region hasn't experienced a month-by-month decline since August 2006.

With the pressures of the current credit crisis, home prices have got to go down as people are going to have a tougher time getting a loan. I still think it hasn't bottomed out.
