Alpha: Thanks for the reply; my first couple of weeks will be poking around both areas then concentrating on a job - that will really dictate what area I live in.

I am very nervous but also excited and looking forward to being back on the East Coast

MQ: Very convenient for the passes to be sold at the Supermarket - thanks

You may not be using the toll roads that much - it really depends upon which side of town you live in... If you live north of the city - in Lake Mary, Altamonte, Winter Park, etc - you use I-4 which has no tolls, but lots of traffic! If you live in many parts East of the city you would probably use the toll roads - and they are super expensive - you'll see.. there's like a toll booth every few miles.
Also you asked about Lake Mary - very nice town - good schools, pretty safe, but the only thing I see as a negative is most of the houses are built very close to each other. Also there are some major employers (AAA is one) right in Lake Mary, another plus.

I spend about 15 dollars a week on tolls going from union park to JYP I don`t think it`s that bad, some people spend more a week on smokes.

dst828,

Honestly, Tampa and Orlando can't compare to Washington State, Why leave the beautiful Pacific-Northwest for Central Florida ?

Washington is a beautiful state however; we have Grey cloudy wet winters which is about 7 months out of the year and it can be very depressing. I love the sunshine so why not move to the sunshine state

Alpha: That's not so bad on tolls, I was thinking much worse.....

So why not combine the good of Washington State ( beautiful land and weather ) and the good of Florida ( beaches and sunshine ) and move to North Carolina ?

It's the best of both worlds..
