my husband and i are heading to tampa to visit our son at UT. we stayed downtown last year and had a great time. this year we're ready for something different...on the beach but as convenient and close by to tampa as possible. any suggestions? we're up for staying in a nice hotel or condo.

Tampa itself does not have a lot of beaches. If you are willing to drive about 30-40 minutes you will have many to choose from. Clearwater Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, Treasure Island. The Don Cesar is a wonderful hotel on the beach that you may want to look into. Hope this helps you some.

I prefer pass-a-grille beach, on the southern tip of st pete beach. go to floridasbeach.com and search pass-a-grille. many inns and small b&b's, small quaint town like setting, great restaurants a few small shops, beautiful beach area.
