I'd like to thank everyone who recommended S. Tampa. My husband got to our rental house today and while the house is older than he would like the neighborhood looks nice and safe and the dogs love the backyard.National Half Price Mattress & Furniture - Tampa and Pinellas Discount Furniture and Mattress Super Store/Clearance Center Leader. Is anyone familiar with them? We were thinking IKEA for a tv stand, etc. but we would welcome any suggestions. We're pretty much planning on living like college students for this year so we aren't planning on being too picky. Any suggestions on where to go?

I would look on Craigslist. It takes more effort than shopping at a store but the deals can be great.

If you don't mind the knock around or assemble yourself furniture, then I suggest Target or Ikea as you already mentioned. But, do not overlook furniture consignment shops. Just Google "furniture consignment tampa" and you'll have a nice list to choose from.
