Tampa/St Pete for sure, better job market more to do etc I hear the south Tampa area is very nice and around downtown St Pete.

Don`t expect a New york type of Pace Tampa is a small city so it`s much slower.

you are right by not moving to cape coral-fort myers, the area is destitute, tampa is much more exciting with nice homes and entertain, shopping etc..,my understanding is that st. pete has a lot of older people so i guess it depends on what your prefrences are but if it must be on the gulf coast dont move any further south than tampa bay area, there are no jobs and it's boring.

Try looking in Sarasota County, Sarasota down to Port Charlotte if you can commute. Way more house for the buck. I have a relative in North Port which is just north of Port Charlotte, they commute to Sarasota daily. If you could find work in Sarasota, Maybe Bon Secours or one of the other Hospitals it may be viable. BTW I've been looking @ Cape Coral as well, I have a realtor sending me listings - bargains are everywhere -but yes job market not good .
