It's very humid here. It's harder to breathe because the air is so thick. Lots of biting bugs. The wages are way worse. No opportunity. Cost of living is about the same though. Have fun, I'm moving to Vegas.

That's like comparing apples to oranges. You can't compare Tampa to Las Vegas. It's way humid here, dry heat is better. Pay isn't great and now is hard to find a job. Living isn't that bad price wise, depending on the area you are moving into, and just like any other metro area there is traffic and crime.

Yes, it is apples and oranges. I loathe Las Vegas and wouldn't live there if you gave me a place. I also loathe extremely hot, dry heat, and places with a lack of green and trees. I like living close to coastal waters, there is nothing like it - that is, for ME.

It really depends on what one likes.

To answer your question more information is needed. Such as, your age, occupation, etc. But I would choose Las Vegas over Tampa, LV is a more active town.

Never been to Vegas but my mom has and some of my friends have and would say Vegas is a hopping town, Tampa is more laid back and more humid, personally I can`t Do really dry heat it messes with my sinuses. Humidity is better for me even though getting sticky does not feel all that nice.

Other then that it depends on what you are looking for Laid back coastal city or a hopping active desert City.

34 years old am married no kids. Have the opportunity to work at Tampa Hard Rock as dealer. Major factor in not moving would be cost, selling house, transporting dog (rott and 2 cats). Have been to Fort Myers, Naples, Captiva Island, not really familar with Tampa. Wife is a poker dealer so she wouldn't have a job at first if we moved.
We both like the humidity so that's not bothersome.

Haha, that's hilarious. You both like the humidity so it's not a problem.Haha. I was just in Vegas and people were freaking with 27% humidity. It's often 80-100% every day when I wake up. And I'm 35 and a native to FL. Well if the humidity truly doesn't get to you hopefully the low wages and mold won't either. Good luck.

I'm a native NY'er who lived in Vegas for 8 years, then moved here to the Tampa Bay area 2½ yrs. ago. I can't specifically compare Vegas to Tampa since I live in Hernando County, but here are my generalizations:

Pros on Vegas:
• Most people are nice, it's generally a melting pot of people from throughout the country.
• Better business/financial climate.
• Better parks and organized sports thru rec dept.
• Dry weather (although the winds are NASTY).
• Great shopping & dining.
• Isolated, yet a lot of good stuff within a reasonable drive.

Cons on Vegas:
• Traffic can back up real quick if you get caught behind one of the daily accidents.
• Isolated, need to drive for beaches, etc.

Pros on Tampa Bay area:
• Fairly mild weather (I don't mind the humidity so much, but have found the weather to be much more comfortable here than say, Fort Lauderdale). Also, the winters are warmer than Vegas.
• You can travel to different parts of the state, and they're all so different (rural areas, beautiful beaches, etc.).
• Proximity to attractions. Tampa Bay is a great central location to visit the rest of the state.

Cons on TBA:
• A lot of people have a cheap, "I want everything for free" mentality.
• Poor wages, and difficult to establish a business because everybody wants something for nothing, or has been burned by rip-off artists.

All in all, I'm happy to be here. I personally love being near the water again, and enjoy the pleasant weather. There's a lot to do, I try to take advantage of what I can & what I can afford.

I never minded the weather in Vegas, but had to go up for a meeting in late June, and I forgot how oppressive the heat could be when you're not acclimated to it.

No matter what you decide, I wish you good luck.

Live in Tampa and used to go to Vegas all the time when I lived in California.
Tampa is greener, not as hot, but the humidity makes up for that- you'll sweat buckets out here. On the other hand, it's not like a blast furnace when you step outside on an August day from inside the air conditioned casino you are working at..lol.
As far as activities, both are about the same. Vegas has a special atmosphere that is hard to duplicate anywhere else.
On the upside, you'll have beaches and a "somewhat" cooler climate.
On the downside, you'll have the bugs and no mountains...and no In and Out Burgers.
That would be the deal breaker for me...right there.
But Tampa is nice, and compared to Vegas it's a good switch. I like the fact that I don't get dry and cracked skin anymore and haven't woken up with an nosebleed since I've left the west.
You'll miss the nightlife of Vegas and the people/atmosphere. The Hard Rock is a dumbed-down Vegas casino. I don't care all that much for it. I like it better in Biloxi-a lot more Vegas-like in certain respects.
