We saw an alligator last night (home, subdivision, homeowner)

Everyday that I spend in Fl, confirms more and more how different it is than NY.... LOL.
Last night, I was driving my grandma home to her apt in Sun City Center and on the side of the road at the end of a drivway, there he sat. A 5-6 ft alligator. There were already some cars that had stopped and called the police. Apparently, they didn't feel the need to call animal control because they only sent one officer in a cruiser to check it out. Well, he borrowed a broom from the homeowner and swatted the alligator all the way across the street until he went back into the pond that I am guessing he came from. Boy, was this alligator pissed though. He went hissing and snapping at the broom handle the entire time. And the officer never even took out his gun - he had a flash light in his other hand.
Needless to say, my six year old son got a huge kick out the whole thing - he is a huge nature lover.

So, it was a huge eye opening experience for our family this week. First, we had a lizard in our car that wasn't discovered until we were diving down the street, then we found a coral snake in our yard and now the alligator sighting. " I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto".

Yep, we got gators! Don't let your dogs (or children) go near ponds. Gators really love dogs...but it doesn't work out too well for the dog.
And don't ever feed one!!!!!!
make sure you know the difference between a coral snake (deadly) and a corn snake (harmless)

Welcome to FL!!

There are lots of gators around even in the city. There is a huge one in the lakes in front of the office buildings on MLK across from the stadium. He would cross the street in the complex to go from one lake to another. One time he almost got hit by a fire truck.

Gators are everywhere in Fl. where there is water. You think there isn't because you haven't seen one and then one day-there they are!

Yikes!! I thought you were going to say your saw it in your yard...I was thinking our subdivision had alligators??
