We're one of the few who got caught in the housing crisis due to a relocation and not a forclosure deal. I had just bought a house in Colorado when the real estate market fell out of tampa. (talk about timing )

Once we moved, it gave State Farm an "out" and of course they dropped our coverage. Now we are trying to find insurance on just the house till it sells. No one will touch it because its Florida and Citizens wont insure a vacant house.

I've contacted a few agencies, but because the forclosure market is so high, policies on vacant houses are insane (Our house is 3900 sq ft, built in 05, and we were paying $1600/yr for 400k coverage. Once vacant, my best quote has been $10,800 per year just to insure the structure alone, no personal property)
Our neighborhood has no crime rate so its a very safe area, no vandalism.

Does anyone know of an insurance agency who will insure a property while it is listed for sale. Our only other option is to split up my family and send my wife and 5 yr old back to Florida to "live" in the empty house.

I sent you a direct message. I don't feel comfortable putting out names and phone numbers in a public forum.
