Trump Towers - what's the buzz? (Tampa, Orlando: construction, cost, moving)

I haven't heard a thing about the proposed Trump Towers since shortly after Mirabilis, an Orlando based company, had to bail out the project from SimDag. I've always had some doubt as to whether or not this pig would ever make it out of the mud.

Have the foundation crew made any headway on hitting stable soil, limestone or anything solid where they could plant some pilings? Have they started moving any more dirt yet? What kind of equipment have y'all seen out at the sight? Any engineers want to comment on this project?

WOW! Now, that's wierd timing - I hadn't seen that article.

I had doubts about the Orlando company going forward with this project.

Although it does sound like some pilings or supports have been drivin into the mud. Does anyone have any technical data on if they hit anything solid. I mean, if I were an investor what I'd want to know is the answer to some very simple questions: What exactly are the soil conditions; can they be overcome; with what methods; and is it feasible?

Soil conditions can be ascertained by drilling. Thus, the answer should be forthcoming if the news is good news.

Once the soil conditions are completely ascertained, the "fix" that would permit construction would be fairly well known and limited to only a few methods - this should be easily answered as well once the soils analysis was thouroughly completed.

Then the only question is whether the piece of land is big enough to employ the "fix". If not - no brainer - abandon the project. If it is, then the hard part is to determine what it will cost and whether the project is still feasible.

It seems to me that the next company that becomes involved in Trump Tampa would spend the money to determine the these things first. Actually, I bet that the Orlando company DID do this - so why haven't we heard about the results?
