Sup everyone? Im a Letter Carrier (US Postal Service). Im in the process of a mutual swap. Basically im trading places with another carrier from clearwater. Im estimating that my start date in Clearwater is around feb-march 2009. Im 26. I make a lil over 50K a yr. Single. I would like to find a decent complex to rent a 1 bedroom apt. I would like to spend less than $650 a month if possible and would like to stay in the clearwater area because I dont want to have a long commute to work. Nothing extravagent. Hmmm what else? Umm oh yea . . is there any nightlife (Bars, clubs and etc.) in clearwater? Or do i have to drive to Tampa? I got no family no friends at all down there. Alot of people tell me its "dead". Im making this move because of the cost of living here in NY. Its gotten outta hand. Thanks in advance!

Not sure how many members we have that live in Clearwater but hopefully someone will check in and give you some info. Downtown Clearwater is pretty small and I am not sure how much nightlife there is other than around the beach.

I stayed 6 months in the Bayside Arbors next to the Clearwater Mall.
It cost between $700-$800 for a 1 bedroom Apt. I thought it was a great place as I did not need to use the car all the time. The shops are a 5 min walk. There are several Bars & Night Clubs within 10-20min Walk.

$650/mo is quite realistic for a decent 1br, it just won't be very big. There's some nightlife over on the beach (Shepards comes to mind, that's kindof popular), not so much in actual downtown Clearwater. Someone was recently telling me about a place called El Tejano that's right downtown, you might want to check that out. But yeah, most of the good nightlife is in Tampa.

Yes, most of the night life is in Tampa (actually almost all of it) beware of the Scientologist in Clearwater, you actually might like St. Pete better since your only 26. St Pete has a really cool downtown area and there is almost always something going on.
