Trying to relocate to Tampa area. We are in Wisconsin with 4 young children. We are looking for Information Technology jobs. We have been sending resumes on line for over 4 months and not receiving anything back. Any suggestions with being out of state?

If you do a search on employment, you should find some good info. One recommendation is to get a local cell phone. There are too many applicants in town normally, so they don't bother with out of towners.

Tampa is NOT a place for IT, i know this because i USED to work in IT. There are almost no IT jobs here and the ones that exist are mostly temp and very LOW paying. Move to Austin, TX, Raleigh, NC, Atlanta, Boston, NY, Chicago or SF if u want to find and abundance of decent paying IT jobs. forget tampa or florida for IT, its not here. the job market in tampa is generally horrible for traditional corporate jobs but these days the job market is practically Non Existant.

Most my friends I know that have IT jobs are either self emplyed contractors(making a ton of $$$), or are in the healthcare and financial services industry. I know my company employs over a hundred IT specialists here in Tampa, and its a Financial Services firm.

I have to agree with Tpaguy03. My son works as an IT contractor making $40-60 an hour. He has been with the same company for over a year. If you have experience you should be able to get a good job.

You can get a mailbox, but I believe most employers are going to call you if they are interested. If they aren't interested, even having a Tpa address isn't going to get you a rejection letter in most cases.

Someone posted a few weeks ago they got a local cell and received a call for an interview, previously they had not gotten any calls.

We will look into the IT contractor positions. Is that something that you can also apply on line for?
