Lived in Dunedin my whole life. 90% of the kids I grew up with aspired to be drug dealers, most of that 90% were successful.

I live in a nieghborhood where every 10 houses one belongs to a drug dealer.

Then there is the nice area, which is walking distance from my neighborhood.

I have a lot of extended family in Michigan, and there's one real difference between the North and the South that everyone forgets to mention.

In Michigan, the good area extends for miles and miles, and the bad area extends for miles and miles. In Florida, you get every kind of good medium and bad within walking distance. So, you could be going to the corner store to buy milk, and the guy 1 neighborhood over is there buying baking soda to cook his crack with.

If you want crime free, go to East Lake. There you just get varying degrees of rich richer and richest.

There is a small not so nice area in Dunedin...believe me unless you live there you will never have to go there...you could easily live in Dunedin for years and not know it exists...I wouldn't even let this be a small consideration in your decision to move to Dunedin...

I agree with this. I've been wintering there now for three years and most of Dunedin is very nice.

I'm thinking of transferring to Dunedin as a letter carrier so I'm trying to figure out now if I should look at a different town based on some of the responses. I'll be in the bad parts whether I like it or not.....haha

Not really any bad parts in Dunedin or Palm Harbor. Just less good.

I bought a house in Dunedin about a mile and a half north from downtown. My wife and I just loved the vibe of the downtown. It's got "mojo" for lack of a better word...It's not a huge downtown, but it has character. We also love the honeymoon island causeway, which is a real treasure and how close Dunedin is to Clearwater beach, Tampa, St.Pete etc....I drove all over the place, thinking that the town couldn't be this nice, too good to be true... Well, I have yet to find this really bad neighborhood. I'm sure it's out there somewhere. If it really is there and "bad", it's got to be small. It's probably more of a case of less good like the other poster said. My neighborhood is older mostly houses built in the 1950's with a mix of neighbors. We love it!
