We have been on Skyway Bridge and DeSoto Park's piers, but can anyone tell me what other piers are good for fishing from? My husband prefers to go early in the morning (Skyway is 24 hours), but I saw the St. Pete Pier only opens at 10 on Saturdays and 11 on Sundays. How about the Redington Long Pier? I can't find hours on that one. Any other piers along the Gulf Coast that open early or are open 24 hours (and besides Gandy Bridge in Tampa Bay)? Thanks!

I believe piers to be more common on the east coast. Not sure but I know a lot of them exist over there. The regulars are referred to a pier rats.

was the Redington pier ever rebuilt? I would think the Skyway piers would be primo fishing. And I believe you can fish from the Gandy bridge(westbound side)

How about Pier 60 in Clearwater? I've seen people fishing there---both early and late.

The Skyways piers are hit or miss. My experience has been more misses... DeSoto's pier does well in the summer and fall; mostly mackerel, occasionally bonito, and mangrove snapper if your willing to lose lots of baits to the pilings. The Gandy is good for pompano in season, sharks at night, and spanish mackerel. My experience has been that shore and pier fishing is pretty spotty in the Tampa area. I've enjoyed far greater success from boats..
