Hi everyone, I am being laid off on March 31st in CA and would like to use my severance to pay for a month to live in Tampa, to see how I like it. I've done some checking on CraigsList to try and find a furnished one bedroom apartment for April, but they are either outlandishly expensive or just not available.

Short term housing will always be more expensive, especially furnished, there's just no way around it. 1 bedrooms are rare, maybe check for 2 bedrooms, I remember seeing quite a few on Craigslist that were well priced. Corporate furnished apartments are also an option, if you look up the monthly apartments in the area, but I assume the prices won't be much better. There are weekly/monthly hotels/motels too, that vary by budget, but I never liked the look of those.

What are you looking to spend for a fully furnished 1 bedroom apt for one month? You may want to consider some of the hotels companies that specialize in this type of arrangement(Extended Stay, TownePlace Suites Marriott, ExecuStay by Marriott actually leases nice furnished apartments to rent, they have some at GrandCentral Station in Channelside area of downtown Tampa.
