I've got decorations up, a big bowl of candy and the puppy dressed up as a cow. Where are my trick-or-treaters? Does no one go door-to-door in South Tampa?

A few years back we had over 20 at my place, if we have 2 this year it will double what we had last year. It is sad

It's a frustrating guessing game...some friends in Chicago gave out 12 bags of candy in the first hour and a half. They were panicking to get more before running out!

All my candy went last night...the kids were all out from about 7pm to 9pm....we usually sit on the front porch with some cocktails watching the kids come around....

We had maybe a quarter of the kids we've had the last three years. And only about 1/3 the number of houses were lit up. Since I'm pretty confident my neighbors haven't joined some fringe group that believes Trick-or-Treating is the work of Satan, I don't know what the cause might be. Might be the economy; those who did give out candy mostly had the inexpensive stuff. Fewer Reese Cups, more generic lollipops.
My son likes the lollipops, but his dad's seriously bummed. <g>

I gave up after two years of nothing. The first few years I lived in my house I had dozens of trick or treaters. One year I know I had over a hundred kids. The last two years however had two kids showing up so this year I did nothing. And of course looking outside of my window I saw that trick or treaters were back so I will try again next year.
