We are moving to Dunedin in a couple of weeks... Any suggestions on where to get good NY style pizza and nice baguette bread? I don't mind driving 10-15 minutes to get it.

I've had Marinas Pizza in Westchase, which has great pizza, but that would be a good hike - as would an italian market in St. Pete (the name escapes me), which I have heard has great bread.

I should mention that we recently moved from Philly (grew up in NYC) and we were kind of spoiled when it comes to those two things...

Forget the baguettes, you want cuban bread!

Tampa is known for its cuban bread, as long as you get it at the right places. I can think of two places right off hand. One of them Mauricio Faedo's Bakery on Florida Ave. The address is:

5150 N Florida Ave
Tampa, FL 33603

They have fantastic, FRESH cuban bread. Did I mention it was fresh?

Default A & N pork store

on US 19 N. in Clearwater. Almost makes me wish I wasn't kosher The best authentic, Philly, NY style stuff. They have it all and Nancy cooks like Nonna did. Does her own baking, pastry beyond cannoli The one in St. Pete isn't worth the drive but you'll hear folks who don't come from where we do, rave. we also liked De Loza Pizza in Madeira Beach.
Food is very subjective but definitely try it. It' snot that far a schlepp.

Default is it crispy

on the outside with a nice coarse texture inside? That's real NY/Philly bread. Anything else is cotton candy.

Angelo's Pizza on Curlew Road in Palm Harbor(close to the Dunedin line) has the best NY style pizza we have found around here.

I have yet to find a "decent" pizzeria here in St. Pete.

There's an Italian Deli, not far off 22nd (I believe) and 34th, that's decent.

I've found the better Italian (and most others, for that matter) food up there, for the most part.

Bambinos and Angelos - got it. Thanks. I will try 'em.

I agree 100% on the crispy outside of the baguette...

.

Central Pizza on Central Ave in St. Pete (near 62nd st) is about as close to real NY/NJ style pizza in St. Pete- good stuff. The Fortunatos downtown makes a good slice as well. I have not tried Joey Brooklyn's.

Tampa Cuban bread is great- good suggestion above. Truly a unique Tampa treasure.

IMO Mazzaros makes the best bread outside of NY/NJ, hands down- no one comes close.

As straight fact, Bon Appetit bakery in Gulfport makes the best Portugese bread outside of the Ironbound in Newark. Of course they are the only Portugese bread place

If you're willing to be daring and try Greek pizza and food, go to Tarpon Springs. Get the real thing...yummy.
