Are there food banks in the area that accept donations from a single person, as opposed to food items in bulk such as those from a food drive? I would like to donate but I don't know where to donate. I've contacted St. Pete Free Clinic and Second Harvest food banks. I looked at United Way, but it seems they only accept monetary donations.
Also I know there is the toys for tots program, are there any other similar programs going on in the area?

Try a church near you. Many churches have food pantries. Not sure where u live but I know a church in S. Tampa that has a pantry.

There is an org (angel something) where you can select a child from their list and buy the gifts they have on their wish list.

You just made my list of wonderful people!
The problem that organizations had is/was sorting out food that was expired or damaged. Salvation Army or Goodwill on Missouri Ave. in Clw. used to accept food donations but I'm not sure if they still do that. Grocery stores such as Publix sell pre-packaged bags of food with a list stapled to the bag of its' contents. The bags are all priced accordingly so you only spend what you can. They then donate the bags to pre-screened organizations for distribution.
God bless your efforts!

Hi Keeper, can you list the name of the church in S. Tampa? I'm in S. Tampa and I am looking for a way to make similar donations.

Default food pantry

I happen to run my church's food pantry. We are in Tampa, Florida. Gateway Christian Center, located at 14200 North Central Avenue. Between Fletcher and Bearss off of Florida Avenue is our main entrance. (813)961-4692. We accept donations of food!

I know Metropolitan Ministeries on Florida Ave just north of downtown Tampa takes food donations. They also love to have volunteers help them sort through the food.
