Hello,

I was born and raised in this area, but am drawing a blank when it comes to wedding location ideas.

I have tried everything from the Florida Aquarium to the St. Pete Little Theatre in Gulfport. Everything is SO expensive... It was almost $2500 just to rent the Aquarium...

We do not have a lot of money and are looking for an affordable alternative to a church. I don't want a beach or outdoor wedding (to hot, might rain).

I really don't want to have it at a hotel.

Any ideas??

Thank you!

Angela

Check out Davis Island Garden Center. My stepson was married there. If the weather is nice, you can have it outdoors, if it isn't you can get married inside.

You can do a search on this forum for other ideas but I know we had this asked recently here
Places for Receptions?

Another option depending on the size of your wedding would be to rent a clubhouse at an apt complex. Many require someone live there in order to rent, but not all do.

Have you tried venues where you can hire your own caterers or bring your own food? Decorate yourself. Places where you just rent the hall. Lions Club type venues come to mind

Have you talked with the people at Event Factory on Hillsborough Ave? I attended a Cinderella wedding (seriously) there two years ago and it was quite the party. I don't know how cheap/expensive they are though. They have a website here --> The Event Factory : Home Of The Castle Ballroom.

Sunken Gardens is nice, and they actually have indoor facilities for your reception.

My wife and I were married at Sunken Gardens a little over a year ago. It was awesome but pretty spendy. If I remember correctly I believe you can rent only the building and drop the price quite a bit. There are large windows all along one wall that look out over the gardens so you still get a little bit of the outdoors even though you're inside.
