I'm originally from Atlanta and looking to move to Tampa sometime in the next few months. Any suggestion/tips on where or if one place is better than another. I'm kinda familiar with the area but living aspects, not so much. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!!

South Tampa is a rich, swanky area, and it is conveniently located near the airport, westchore, and international malls. Personally, I think carollwood and citrus park are the best areas to move, and that is near citrus park mall. What brings you to Tampa?

I've got some friends in Carollwood, right off Elrich (sp?) and I love the area there. It seems nice and quiet yet not to far off from things. I haven't checked out Citrus Park yet. I'll be back down there and hopefully I'll get to check it out then as well as some more areas.

Basically I just want a new change of scenery and pace from Atlanta. I'm almost 23 and it just doesn't seem like Atlanta has a lot to offer me anymore. And when I'm in Tampa, it seems like it's pretty promising as far as the job market and the growth of the city.

We're in the New Tampa area but it's a bit remote for our taste. Our favorite part of Tampa is the Citrus Park area and Carollwood isn't bad either. We lived in Pinellas County when we first moved here and loved it - but the main problem with that area is the vulnerability to hurricanes. While a bit quiet for us, New Tampa was the best place to be in Florida during the hurricanes of the past 2 years. But for a young person, you definitely need to be closer in to the action.

Thanks so much for all the responses so far!! I think I've narrowed it down to Citrus Park and Carrollwood so far. But I'm still open to suggestions.

I really appreciate all this feedback.

I currently live in Carrolwood and have watched this place swell up in the past couple of years. It's one of the better areas in Tampa and everyone knows it. Traffic has increased and real estate has gone thru the roof, although there are some deals to be found occasionally. Hillsborough county tax is alot in this area, almost 2400 a year so that might be a considering factor.

But like I mentioned the area is being built up alot and also the Town & Country area (Next neighborhood) and it is expanding by the day. TnC might also be an option as its close to Citrus Park and Carrolwood (minutes). I have family over there and its generally a nice area as well. You have some options and i'd look around in these areas too. Your still close and might find some good housing.

Single and Young in Tampa, my choice in order would be: Harbour Island, Davis Islands, Channelside(downtown); then Hyde Park/SOHO districts, along Bayshore Blvd, and then Westhore..all in South Tampa.
