I am wondering about a certain area in Tampa. I am just wondering if it is a safe place, and whether or not it is a decent area to be in terms of being close to stuff. It is in between Hillsborough ave and MLK, and in between the 275 and N 22nd Street. Thanks

That area is within the city of Tampa. You can lookup crime activity maps on the following website --> City of Tampa All Crimes for October 2008.

The area is close to stuff, as you mentioned, but the crime rate and drug dealers have really kept the area undesireable. This is reflected in the housing prices. If you are a pioneer and want to launch a neighborhood reclamation project, its a good place to start. Remember, Hyde park in South tampa was very similar before it became revitalized and affluent.

I used to own property in that area - NO IT IS NOT SAFE! That area has been bad for a long time and will be bad for a long time into the future, IMO. Lots and lots of crime, my place broken into three times, and lots of prostitutes trespassing on my property with their "johns" among other things. This area and the area to the south of it is among the worst in Tampa.

Are you looking to buy or rent?

I have to go along with everyone else, that area is not one I would ever recommend to anyone.
