Hello all,

I have accepted a job offer in Plant City, Florida and am looking for a apartment/rental within a 35 min commute each way.

I am 25 and still like to go out on the weekends, love sports bars and the young professional atmosphere but at the same time I do not want to be in the middle of the USF housing.

Also, I would prefer not to live in an area with crime and riff raff as I have lived in a shady neighborhood in cincy for a while and I'm tired of having to chain my grill up and hearing riff raff outside.

Can anyone give me any input as to what complexes/areas to look for as well as what to avoid? Also, I do not know a single person in Tampa, so a place with a decent amount of younger-middle aged fun people is very desirable for me.

For now i am on a bit of a budget and I don't need a ridiculous place. A $500-650 dollar studio/1br will do me just fine.

Thanks in advance to everyone! Im so excited to escaspe the cold weather and get down to sunny and warm Florida.

Have a look at Craigs List. Shame you are in Plant City it might be a little too far out for St Pete downtown, that's a really fun area. Not sure if Bayshore/downtown tampa will have much in the way of accommodation for your needs. Might be a bit too rich. St Pete has a lot of homes in the Old NE section with garage apartments, they are pretty cute and you might like them. Also some home shares.

There are plenty of nicer areas in the unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County, as well as within Planty City. I'm sure you will be able to find something to suit your needs and you will be close enough to Tampa to enjoy it's abundant night life.

Brandon isn't too entirely far from Plant City. There is more to do here and people who live in Plant City come here for shopping and such. Brandon is about 30-35 mins. away. There are more apartment communities here if you wanted to rent one. If not, you could rent a nice home in Valrico and be a tad bit closer to Plant City (maybe 25 mins.). Brandon isn't too far from Ybor or Channelside (within 15 mins. or so).

All of these areas are a pretty good distance from Plant City. The commute would be over 30-35 mins. especially in traffic.

You could get a 1 br. here for that price, it'll just be in a older community. You could definatly get in on a special.

South Tampa, definitely; and drive should be less than 30 min. to Plant City.

mquitana- as usual thanks for your posts.

Could you share a few Brandon area apartments that fit her price criteria or is that illegal on this MB?
