My husband and I went to this dentist Feb 19. We printed out our insurance forms and specifically pointed out the service we wanted, which was cleaning only. All the services we pointed out were free according to our insurance plan - Xray and cleaning
We got in the chair, someone looked at our teeth and then brought in a paper with all the work to be done. The grand total of this was $7500.
When we started to leave we were told a charge of $69 each was due. We were NOT told there would be a fee of any kind - referring back to our insurance paperwork. They should have told us UPfront our insurance did not cover a specific type of xray Florida requires - panoramic xray. We would have left immediately and not seen anyone if we had been told. What a ripe off of honest people. We did not have $150 dollars to just hand someone for basically nothing but an xray.
So beware of this trick from the dentist - If you just want your teeth cleaned and the insurance covers 100% - the dentist will make sure you pay the $150 - they will tell you it is a Florida Law - but can not and did not provide proof of this law.

Please check with the dentist before you go through the door!

Florida does not "require" panoramic xrays as far as I know. The only time I have had panoramic xray was in preparation for major orthodontics when I was a young teenager.

My dentist uses digital bitewings for my xrays.

Let me pile on.

Avoid Dr Grant 1407 W Swann Ave, Tampa, FL 33606. Moderator cut: ..
It's a sad day when a Dentist starts to act like an dishonest auto mechanic. If we can't trust Doctors or Dentists, then what?

Sorry folks.. you can put in a name to avoid, but not the details.
This is not the right place for consumer complaints. Such posts present defamation issues and they don't give the other side the opportunity to present their side of the argument.

I would call the state dental board. Every state has a licensing board and this is where complaints are to be lodged. Board Overview - Florida Board of Dentistry - Board Overview Good luck

I think if more people would file a complaint maybe some of these shenanigans would stop. It isn't like they are sitting there with no patients.

Sorry, I didn't know I couldn't tell my side of the story. But I can tell their side too, just to be fair.
After I complained about being charged the office manager said "sorry we will not refund your money, its a Florida Law we take the panoramic xrays and you should have know that".
I have contacted the BBB and Action News 10 regarding the Florida Law.

Thanks
