Councilman's Condo In Jeopardy

TAMPA - City Councilman Joseph Caetano's financial woes continue to escalate.

The bank that holds the mortgage to a condo he owns in Equestrian Parc Highwoods Preserve has begun foreclosure proceedings on the property, seeking about $140,000 from the New Tampa councilman, including the loan principal and unpaid interest.

Caetano, 75, was elected in 2007 to represent New Tampa. Council members are paid $40,000 a year.

So in your estimation if someone gets in financial trouble they should quit their job.

I really don't see any sense in that.

No don't get me wrong but this person is chosen to represent the public and can't even do a good job in his business life and owes so many people money that IMO he can't even be fair and balanced in certain ways.

Of course anybody with financial issues should keep their job as long as possible but you can't compare apples with pears....

In my opinion a Council man should be an example and this isn't what I consider an example....this is almost like "how can I get away with keeping as much money and not paying and living up to my responsibilities" and doing that also in a psotion paid by the tax payers....!
