I am a mom with a 1 year old boy. I don't have any friends with kids that are his age. I want him to have pay dates and for me to meet some more people. Being a mom it is very important to have friends and I am so busy it is hard to find time to meet people. Any ideas or anyone who would be interested in a play date let me know.

there are also moms groups on yahoo. Or take him to your local park & see who you meet!

I took my kids to gymboree--yes, it was super expensive, and they didn't like it so much (didn't get to play in dirt or outside at all).

Oh, and libraries have toddler time classes, etc. All free!

I belong to a playgroup based in the Tampa area that I found on Meetup.com and it's really been an excellent way for both my daughter and I to meet people our respective ages. I highly recommend looking into one on there--if I'm not mistaken, there are dozens in the area. Just read the bios, find one you think would fit with the needs of you and your child, and sign up. Most of them charge only a nominal fee (something like $5/month) and have a few playdates every week.

When I was a sahm and wanted to meet other moms with little ones, I joined Yahoo groups and then requested membership to a Mommy group. I met quite a few Moms/kiddos around the bay area and we always had somewhere to go and something to do.

I didn't join those gyms because they cost an arm and a leg and you're paying $$$ for limited usage. Many families have the year-round membership combo plans to the aquarium, zoo and Busch Gardens. Sometimes playgroups will schedule a day at the zoo with brown bag lunches, etc. You might want to invest in an entertainment package like that.

You can also visit any mall in the Tampa Bay area where the kids' play area is. You're almost guaranteed to meet Moms/Dads/kids there as long as you're not afraid to say "Hi" and start talking.

Good luck and I hope you find a wonderful playgroup for you and your child.
