I'm looking to find a job on an ocean-liner or something and I need to figure out what's the biggest port city in the state (or around the state). I know that Miami has a bunch of cruise ships that come through, but I need a port that has cargo freighters or the like coming through on their way across the world.

Anyone have any idea where I might find what I'm looking for?

Yea your right Miami has the world's largest cruise ship port can hold 12 at once. Since your not looking for that Tampa would have to be your best bet. Besides that Port Everglades/Ft Lauderdale and Port Canaveral/ Cape Canaveral are pretty big and growing.

The port of Tampa is the largest port in the State of Florida, and currently ranks 16th in the nation by tonnage. Millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements are underway or are in the planning phase.

Three cruise lines sail from the port: Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, and Holland America Line.

Default Jacksonville Port

I might be more inclined to advise you to head towards Jacksonville. It is by far the fastest growing port in Florida (and in the country for that matter). Its also already "decent sized" meaning while Tampa is the largest in the state and about 15th in the nation, the port in JAX is in the top 30 as well.

Good luck!

Manatee port is expanding as well. It's the closest to the Panama Canal.

Here is but one of many articles on the subject.

Miami has the largest cruise port

Tampa has the largest freight port

But honestly, the difference between Miami, port everglades, Tampa, and Jax is probably negligible. They're all large ports.
