1.FIU, 2.USF, 3.FAU. FIU would not have been # 1 here 3 years ago but now they have a med school with a large amount of applicants, a pretty new law school, one of the best buisness schools in the US (ranked in the top 20) and a Journalism school that is fully accredited ( only 25% of Journalism schools are fully accredited in the US) They are also now the most selective school in FL...not saying they have the highest quality of candidates, but they do have a high number of applicants.

USF is the better school but not by that much. Not many out of the state will know that FIU or FAU exist. USF is slowly making a bit of a name for itself.

USF:

CLASS OF 2013 PROFILES
Avg. GPA 3.32 unweighted 3.73 weighted
Avg. SAT 564 (M) 554 (CR) 543 (W)
Avg. ACT 25

FIU:

CLASS OF 2013 PROFILES
Avg. GPA 3.35 unweighted 3.85 weighted
Avg. SAT 548 (M) 538 (CR) 542 (W)
Avg. ACT 24

FAU:

CLASS OF 2013 PROFILES
Avg. GPA 3.17 unweighted 3.57 weighted
Avg. SAT 535 (M) 522 (CR) 526 (W)
Avg. ACT 23

It's only making a name for itself because of the football team. Because it gets the left over scraps from UM, FSU, UF. Players that they don't want due to academics ect but are still very talented compared to other states and programs.

But anyways FIU easily their up there in academics right behind the big three in Florida. Their also very new school as to USF has been around since when Tampa was considered South Florida a long time ago. I think they should change their name to.

i graduate in the past six years in the humanities, heres my two cents....

1. usf
2. fiu
3. fau

fiu seems to have been making some strides since i graduate though. overall, my experience at usf was lackluster; i thought the level of education wasnt much above a community college. some floridians will tell you usf is on the rise, but i would have to disagree from what ive seen since i graduated: mostly the same old stuff. i always found uf, and fsu better for the humanities in undergrad work.

You got to be kidding right?

No school in Florida is even close to top 20 Business School. UF is at #37 in US News.

FIU ranked in the top 20 Business Schools?!? ROTFLMAO

They probably meant to say that FIU is top 20 in international business, which is true.

I'd rank them all in the commuter school category, though.

Not USF. At USF all freshmen are required to live on campus. Also, most commuters at USF live right next to campus in student apartments. Hardly a commuter school.

USF is easily ahead of FAU and FIU. There is virtually no difference in the acedemic reputation of FAU and FIU. Both tier 4 schools according to US News and World Report.
