Hello,

We are moving to Dunedin this June. I was curious if anyone has any info on Curtis Fundamental in Dunedin. My daughter will be in the first grade. We like how they have a strict behavior policy, parent involvement etc. It is also close to where we are looking to move, and I will probably be working at Dunedin Mease, so it would be very convienant.

I'm curious if anyone has any info, such as friendliness and caring on the teachers part, and just overall do you like the school? My daughter had the best Kindergarten teacher and so now my expectations are so high. My fear is cold and unfriendly teachers to both students and parents.

Also, if she doesn't go to Curtis Fundamental she would probably go to San Jose due to the school zoning changes. My husband and I checked out Garrison-Jones and Dunedin Elementary but did not get a chance to check out San Jose.. (unaware of the zoning change at that time.) So any info would be great there also. Thanks!

My choice would Curtis Fundamental. They have a great reputation; however, it is highly competitive. Students are chosen by lottery. There is a long waiting list. Good luck.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I had sent an e-mail curious if that is the case, and I have not had a response. Thank you for letting me know that!

I tried for 3 years in row to get my kids in, but no luck. Curtis Fundamental is a magnet school. However, it doesn't mean your kids can't get a great education. If you are flexible on your location, Palm Harbor has some great schools. PH is just a bit north of Dunedin.

We are definitely moving to Dunedin, so I guess we will see how it goes.
