Hello all, I'm currently living in Miramar (just north of Miami) and will be moving to the Tampa area at the end of the year to continue school. I will be attending the USF and would like to know where is the best area to stay that is afforable (apartments)? Thank you!

If its proximity to the school that is most important to you, look to the North and East of the campus. There is a Carlton Arms community on Fletcher Avenue that is reletively reasonable, but there are numerous aprtment communities surrounding the campus. Just need to know what you are looking to spend, and whats important to you.

I recently heard that apartment communities were offering amazing incentives (lower rent, free months, upgrades, no deposits, etc.). There are lots of vacancies. Decide on the area you like best then negotiate the rent. I remember someone on this board (Nitokenshi?) said that rent would be cheapest on campus, though.

Cheap is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the heads up.

Do be careful of going too cheap around USF as there are some bad areas. If the street name is a number that may be a place to be wary of too. IIRC Suitcase City is an area around Skipper's Restaurant (the restaurant/bar is good) but the area around it is not the best place to live.

You might want to check back here and ask for info on the apt complex
