Would you consider having a commuter with you to cut the price of the commute? Would have to work the same hours though 8:30 to 5:00???

My son did it for awhile, not really a bad ride just traffic by airport. but could be done in 45 mins to 1 hr. However there is Express 200 that takes you tampa downtown from Clearwater direct starting at 5.20 am, 6, 8, $2.50 each way. I took them when I worked in downtown Tampa. As you will be paying 60-75 month parking if you drive. plus gas.

Thank you for the insight. The firm where I'll be working pays for parking. I just can't stand driving (anywhere, really) but, would pay someone to commute with them gas, parking, etc.

You can go onto PSTA's website or HART's website for bus information. If you are looking for a carpool partner, the best place to look would be www.tampabayrideshare.org They are a non-profit founded by DOT and they help people find carpool partners.

Those would be your best places to start looking. Good Luck!

I know a few people who take that express bus and they LOVE it. It's a scenic ride, you have time to read and actually people get to know each other well enough to go out for drinks sometimes, which is so funny to me - we never did that on NYC buses!

Clearwater is a pretty nice area overall, but if you work in Tampa I just don't see living there. Unless the beach is VITAL to your social life somehow, I'd strongly advise moving to Tampa (namely Carrollwood or South Tampa) to cut your commute time, gas consumption, etc.

You make it sound as if life is centered around work. Also, no it's not about the Beach. Most who live here seldom get to the Beach especially Clwr. Bch. since it's now a Haven for only wealthy Condo owners.

But according to your advice, accept a larger city atmosphere, move away from your community, friends, maybe Church, social life that with many might involve get together with a wide variety of recreational and/or charitable activities and familiarity of surroundings. All for the sake of living closer to ones work.

Personally it would have to be the job of the century for me to sacrifice everything for the convenience of getting to and from work. The only other scenario I can think of where your advice would be beneficial are those small percentage of people who have established no bonds of any kind where they live and only live to work. I would certainly hope that's the minority. If not it might help explain the emptiness in today's society.

I think the person means it would be a long costly traffic congested commute every day, gas has already hit $4.00 on the west coast, it can be $4.00 in florida at some point, I would think anyone would consider that when moving someplace now, especially if they are not at a high income.
