I was wondering if anyone may be able to recommend a public place anywhere in the Hillsborough/Pinellas area (park, museum, etc.) that has architecture with a Mediterranean vibe? A photographer friend of mine is going to do a photo shoot for my family, and we're looking for a place like this to serve as the "backdrop".

Ybor has been mentioned to me already, and while I am keeping it on the list, it's a little more urban than I had in mind (unless there's a secret spot someone knows about that doesn't look like the rest of 7th).

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!

Best place I know would be the Ringling mansion in Sarasota. If you don't need or want pay to go inside you can take your pictures on the grounds, it's beautiful, old Italian architecture right on the Bay.

As in the Sponge Docks? That's not exactly the look we were going for.

Thank you--this looks perfect. It is a little farther than we wanted to go, but if I can't find anything closer this may well be the place.

Spend a few minutes driving around the Beach Park neighborhood in Tampa. It's the area around Westshore Blvd between Kennedy and Gandy. Try going into those little streets that lead west, towards the bay. There are some absolutely stunning "Mediterranean Revival" style mansions and the area certainly feels less "urban" than Ybor City.

Yes, but I think the OP needs a "public" place to take her photos.
