Yeah, you can buy a cute, old, termite ridden bungalow for pretty cheap, but you will also have to watch out for the bums on Nebraska Ave. and send your kids to F rated schools. They don't mention that in the article, do they?

I know a couple of ppl who live in Seminole Heights and they have a really nice older homes that are not termite ridden. There are historic bungalows that are listed with the historic society. If you read the article you will see not all of the schools in Seminole Heights are F rated. The neighborhood's many parks offer ample opportunity to commune with nature, and families looking for strong public schools will be thrilled by Hillsborough High, recently named one of the best schools in the country by Newsweek magazine.

You need to stay west of Nebraska where it is safer.

That's right - west of Nebraska, where it is known as "Old Seminole Heights" - that is the nice area, the area around Nebraska is SE Seminole Heights and that area is bad, I know since I used to own property there.

Anyway, I have seen a couple episodes of some show (I forget which) on HGTV featuring homes in old Seminole Heights. It's a beautiful area near the river for anyone who loves the old arts and crafts bungalows. And yes, Hillsborough High is a fine high school.

My niece graduated from Hillsborough High this year. Hillsborough High's magnet program is great, but the rest of the school population likes to sit around and talk about the number of babies they are going to have and how much they are going to get in welfare payments for each baby. You have to apply to the magnet program and be accepted. It is a very competitive program and you are not allowed in without having great grades and test scores. If you are going to Hillsborough High because you are in the neighborhood, you are in with the general population, which is rough.

Magnet programs are the way the county gets around integration laws and has allowed them to stop bussing. It's a racist program what still segregates the schools while meeting the numbers needed to claim that they are desegregated.
