Hi everybody,
who has experience with alternatives to rent.com? Which
apartment-search-machines would you use to find apartments?

Thanks in advance!

Try Craigslist.com for Tampa, and also tbo.com. There are many private condos/tomwnehomes listed for rent by location.

Scorpio, I agree with Tampaguy that the local paper is probably the best place to search. Some other sites are apartmentguide, apartments.com. move.com, ForRent.com. Good luck in your search.

Just to let you know if rent appears to be cheap, It is probably income restricted and you dont want to live there. My son ran into that when he was looking at apts. They looked nice from road and they dont advertise that the income is restricted to say 21,000 yr for single person. My sister has to live in one due to finances, and it is like ghetto at nite.
Lots of older apts also have maintance issues. I would look to new ones.

Thumbs up HotPads.com is the best site for apartments

This thread is funny. House-hunting is all about location, location, location. Try hotpads.com. I used hotpads and it was easy, because you search properties on a map.

Just go to the city you want and start clicking on apartments. It's got the photos and contact info and everything.
