I keep hearing that the area around Busch is crime central but when I was there I was walking the streets at night and nothing was going on...how is this area really? And how's the area just southwest of the stadium? Safe or dangerous or somewhere in between?

Depends on your definition of dangerous, I guess. Both are high poverty areas.

Southwest of the stadium? Like the area from Columbus/Himes and over? It's not really bad. There's a lot of older Hispanic families mixed in with younger Hispanic families. It's a poorer area, but it seems fairly quiet.

I was thinking of Drew Park. It has a lot of interesting strip clubs and prostitutes.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to live in Drew Park. I have nothing against chop shops and porn stores, but I don't want to live by them.

use google maps and input Raymond James Stadium and Busch Gardens to get an estimate.

both areas aren't the best - RJS has several strip clubs and poor neighboorhoods - I wouldn't chose to live there unless absolutely necessary

i love everyones opinion of tampa on here. If you live by raymond james, you'll have 3 headed rape monsters attacking your family. if you live by busch gardens, you will have rabid rape zombies trying to rape and eat your family.

I can see raymond james from my parking garage where i live and i am not worried about the crime. there are some iffy neigborhoods near my place, but you'll have that anywhere in the city limits. from my living room i can see the hilton, international plaza, those 3 really nice office buildings on boyscout, ocean prime, and the airport. I regularly walk to bay street on friday and saturday night. I hardly fear for my life.

There are nice neighborhoods by busch gardens too.

I have decided that the city-data tampa bay forums should be renamed to www.city-data/doom-and-gloom.com (broken link)

I'm been making plans to move to the Bay Area. My company has an office in Temple Terrace and I've noticed that is right next to the Gardens. Can anyone tell me about the Temple Terrace area? I appreciate any remarks offered. Thanks.

I'm not up there too often, but I think the farther away from Busch Gardens, the better, at least when looking for a home. I don't think it would matter too much for an office.
