Yes Rodney King who was high on PCP. Funny the guy who was arrested with him did as the cops said and nothing happened to him.

King struggled with cops. His size combined with the fact that he was high on PCP forced them to take action against him.

Since then King has had several brushes with law including driving drunk into the house with a hooker in the car.

He is a class act, glad you look up to him.

There are a lot of 'good' things about Tampa but there are bad things too. It all depends on what you look for. Many ppl aren't happy because Tampa isn't like where they lived before.

There are lots of ppl who love living in Tampa and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. There are also ppl who are unhappy, some because of their job situation, the economy, the weather, loss of value in their house and some just want to move back home.

Some ppl will say everyone in Tampa is a redneck and others will disagree, like me. Some hate hot weather, others love it..

Only you can decide if the good outweigh the bad. What I consider 'bad' you may think is not 'that' bad. What I consider 'good' may not be 'good' enough for you.

Personally I love the beach, sailing, cuban food, S. Tampa, nature trails and the thunderstorms. I dislike the traffic, the crazy drivers.

The thing I find most interesting in my short time on this forum is that no matter what city you read about there are people dying to be there and others dying to leave. I guess it's all perception.

What I find comical is so many that bash and whine and are quick to point out the poor education in FL while thier posts are laden with misspellings.

If I read a post that contains bad spelling and grammar, etc., I take what that person has to say a lot less seriously. How sharp can they be if they can't even write a decent paragraph? The younger generation had better learn how to write because employers also take note of such things.

Are you surprised ?

Yes, Education in Florida is poor. This is a Florida forum though. Most people posting here have more than likley attended school somewhere at sometime in the state.

It is really getting old with everybody pointing out all of the "oh so horrible" things about Florida... if you don't like it then leave, its that easy... pack up your **** and go back to where you were so happy and life was grand...stop coming down here and bringing your miserable attitude with you!

Sorry to blow a hole in your fallacious theory, but I can afford my house. It's the idiots in my FLORIDA neighborhood who bought when they knew they couldn't afford. Now because of those foreclosures, the comps in my neighborhood brought my property value down. Have you checked your value lately?

In any event, another post is correct: If you don't like it, leave. And that is just what I am going to do. You can have your 104 degree heat index, brown recluse spiders, neighbors parking on the lawn, and alligator infested ponds. You can surely keep your ever-growing property taxes, poorly educated students, good ole boy system of government and insurance fraud laden state.

Or maybe the great beaches and Mickey will make up for the shortcomings.

2 things- Um, maybe YOU should have bought a bigger house? Mine is 2600 square feet plus a 2 car garage. Not small.

Florida banned smoking indoors several years ago (with the exception of bars), I don't think that would have passed if there were really sooooo many smokers.

I have traveled and lived in many states, and I am always surprised at restaruants when they ask smoking or non. And don't get me started about the amount of people in Jersey that smoke, holy crow!
