Hi to all in Tampa! I have a possible opportunity to move to Tampa soon. Someone I know in Virginia has a house for rent there. She said it is near the back of Busch Gardens. The street is Sewaha. I think she said it is off of Busch Blvd. If anyone knows about that area could you tell me if it is a known bad neighborhood. Of course I know there is no perfect neighborhood but I want to avoid known blighted areas. I have a family I'd like to not be shot in a drive by or anything. Thanks!!!

I'm not sure about drive-by activity, but the elementary schools in the area are Renaissance schools, which means that at least 90% or more of the children are receiving free lunches. It's a low-income area, for sure, except for the houses on the river.

Why don't you Google map the address and look at the street view of the house? You can pan to the neighboring houses to see how well kept the street appears.

Hey thanks. I'll do that. Maybe. I have an older computer that doesn't always cooperate me. We are debating between Tampa or Orlando. We fell in love with the Orlando area! But it is worth looking into Tampa if we have a place to rent right away.

Yeah the Busch Gardens area isnt the best at all... especially south of Busch Gardens. I personally wouldnt choose to raise my family in that area.

Yeah that's the area where you raise your windows and lock the doors.

It's not HORRIBLE but i wouldnt go take the trash out at midnight.

Try Wesley Chapel, its a new upcoming place in the Tampa Area with good schools, nice homes, new shopping malls and about 20 minutes away from Busch Gardens (believe me, i go all the time =P)

Yeah, everyone else is correct about this place. It's tolerable, but there are much, much better places in town. It's not so much a violent area as it is low-income and fairly transient.

The G-Map system is really awesome to the point of a live camera driving down the roads.

As others here have already posted, that area is not the worst, but not the best. I would try to pick another area of town.
